So you can feel 100% comfortable going forward with a Motord Personal Lease, weíve put together a list of the most common questions weíve been asked, however if your question isnít below, just get in touch as weíre here to help you.
Application & Leasing
It’s a 12 month agreement that includes a fixed mileage allowance. You are simply renting the vehicle, so you do not own it and cannot sell it. At the end of the agreement term the vehicle is returned to us.
We have included road tax (vehicle excise duty) for the duration of the personal lease, although we may pass on any charges that reflect future changes in rates; the vehicle is simply returned at the end of the agreement, so you don’t have to worry about resale value or depreciation.
There are a few reasons:
- If you wish to own or buy a vehicle;
- If you wish to use the vehicle for taxi (inc. Uber and similar) or driving school use, this is not permitted;
- if you plan to export the vehicle or use abroad for extended periods.
If we haven’t already done so we’ll send you a formal quote and application form. Once the form is completed, we assess your application and upon approval, we will order your vehicle. We will then send you the Motord Personal Lease agreement for you to sign and send back with your first payment. Then just sit back and we’ll deliver your vehicle to you.
As long as you can prove who you are and where you live and can demonstrate that you can cover the payments, then you will be considered.
We will ask you for the following to satisfy our underwriting criteria:
- Proof of identity: valid UK driving licence and/or passport.
- Proof of income: pay slips* and bank statements for the past 3 months. *If you are self-employed, please provide a copy of your SA302 form from HMRC.
- Proof of address: copy of a monthly utility bill (e.g. gas, electric, council tax, water, telephone landline) dated within 3 months of application. The name and address on the bill must match the name and address on the application.
You will need to be 18 or over.
We cannot guarantee that every applicant will be accepted – no company can! However, as long as you can provide all the documentation as requested, there is an excellent chance.
If you’re not able to prove that you can cover the payments, a family member or partner can act as guarantor as long as they meet our income criteria. In some circumstances, we may ask for a guarantor at our discretion. In either case, a joint application must be made.
Of course! As long as you can provide all the necessary documents, and demonstrate you can cover the payments, our team will process your application.
We do not check your credit score. The only verification we are required to check is your identity and confirmation of address but will only do so once your signed application form has been received, along with your supporting documents.
We are happy to consider all customers and we will look at your current circumstances, as long as you can provide all the correct documentation and can demonstrate that you can afford the payments.
In principle, yes. We will look at your current circumstances, as long as you can provide all the correct documentation and can demonstrate that you can afford the payments.
No; your payment history with us will not be reflected in your credit score.
Your payments will consist of an initial rental payment and 11 regular monthly payments. These are shown on the quotation, application form and agreement.
You will be charged if you exceed the mileage allowance and/or if the car is returned with damage that is outside the guidelines for fair wear and tear (see below). We may also pass on costs incurred with processing parking fines etc and any further vehicle specific support that you may request.
Our best deals are always shown on our website. If you’re looking for something specific, please ring one of our advisers who will be able to tell you the latest makes and models that we can supply.
You can collect from our offices in Yeovil, if you wish or we can have it delivered to you at the address on the application form.
Most manufacturers have warranties that last up to 3 years. As most of the cars we supply are under 12 months old then your vehicle will be covered by the manufacturers’ warranty during your 12 month Motord Personal Lease.
This will be specific to the vehicle and will be discussed during the application process.
Yes, road tax (vehicle excise duty) is included for the duration of your agreement.
No, insurance is not included and is your responsibility throughout the duration of the agreement. We will require a copy of the insurance certificate or cover note prior to delivery. We may from time to time check the Motor Insurance Database (MID) to check that insurance is in place.
Agreements can be cancelled without penalty, during the 14 day cooling off period; the car will be delivered after this period has expired. After this period has expired, it will be at the discretion of the company and early termination charges may apply.
If you wish to change your vehicle during the 12 month agreement period, early termination charges may apply. We will always discuss the options with you.
We’ll send you a reminder when your agreement is due to end so that you have time to consider your new vehicle.
You can return your vehicle to us or we’ll collect it from you if we’re supplying a new one.
A valet is not necessary but we do ask that you return the vehicle in the same condition as you receive it. This helps us appraise it at agreement end and reduces any disputes over condition.
The vehicle will have a comprehensive inventory which you will sign for and acknowledge upon delivery. You may be charged for any missing or damaged items. Please delete any data that may be stored in sat navs etc.
If you have gone over the agreed mileage allowance, then we will charge you for the excess miles. This excess miles charge is shown on your agreement so you will know this in advance. If during the term of your agreement you think you are likely to go over the allowance, then please let us know and we may be able to adjust the remaining rental amounts to cover this.
We expect some fair wear and tear and a copy of our “Fair Wear & Tear Guidelines” would be included with your agreement. If the damage to the vehicle falls outside these guidelines, then you need to contact us prior to the agreement end. We may charge for any damage on a returned vehicle that has not been repaired and falls outside the guidelines. If you need an extra copy of the guidelines, please let us know.
